Setting Sail on Olga

Appeal sheds light on ship's glorious past

MEMORIES of an historic Gower lightship are to be brought to life by former crew members — thanks to the Evening Post.

An appeal by Swansea Museum for people who had worked on the Helwick, which used to patrol the Helwick sands off southwest Gower and the Bristol channel, featured in the paper in April.

The museum is planning to develop the boat, which is moored in the city’s marina, into a living exhibition with photographs, memories and a recording of its history, read by people who manned it.
